At Maida Vale Primary School, our uniform reflects our shared values, supports a strong sense of belonging, and promotes a positive and consistent image of our school. The dress code is set by the School Board in consultation with students, staff, and families.
We have a No Hat, No Play policy, and students are expected to wear sun-safe, comfortable and practical school uniform items every day.
Uniform Expectations
Hats
“No Hat, Play in the shade”
- Students must wear a broad-brimmed, bucket, or legionnaires hat that provides full sun protection.
- Caps, beanies and hoods are not permitted during the school day.
- Staff and visitors are encouraged to follow the same sun-safe guidelines.
- Shoes
- Closed-in shoes, runners or joggers suitable for running and active play.
- No sandals, thongs, or open footwear.
- Jewellery
For student safety, permitted items include:
- Small ear studs or sleepers
- A watch
- Medic-alert bracelet
- Cultural or religious necklace
If unsafe items are worn, students may be asked not to wear them again. Thank you for your support in keeping students safe.
Hair
Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back or plaited to reduce risks of injury and head lice.
