Our Teaching and Learning Approach

High-Quality, Evidence-Based Teaching

Our teachers use research informed, high-impact strategies aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum, including:

  • Explicit instruction
  • Differentiated learning
  • Regular feedback and goal setting
  • Ongoing monitoring of student progress
  • Inclusive Education

We are committed to meeting the needs of all learners through:

  • Individual and group support
  • IEPs and documented plans
  • Adjustments to teaching, assessment and the learning environment
  • Collaboration between classroom teachers, leadership, EAs, the Student Services team, and families

Positive Learning Environment

Our classrooms are safe, supportive and predictable. Teachers build strong relationships with students and provide learning environments that:

  • Encourage resilience and engagement
  • Promote positive behaviour
  • Support student wellbeing alongside academic learning

Learning Areas

We deliver the full Western Australian Curriculum, which includes:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)

Health and Physical Education

  • The Arts
  • Technologies
  • Languages (LOTE)

Each learning area is planned, taught and assessed using the Achievement Standards and Scope and Sequence documents provided by the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.

Assessment and Reporting

Assessment is ongoing and supports teachers to:

  • Track student progress throughout the year
  • Inform planning and intervention
  • Provide meaningful feedback to students and families

We report to parents formally twice a year and offer opportunities for interviews and discussions to support a shared understanding of student progress and next steps.

Support and Intervention

To ensure every child succeeds, we provide:

  • Targeted literacy and numeracy intervention
  • Small group and individual support
  • Adjusted teaching programs
  • Access to the School Psychologist, Chaplain and Student Services team
  • Case-management processes for students requiring additional support

A Partnership with Families

We believe learning is most effective when schools and families work together. We communicate regularly with parents through:

  • Class notices through Compass
  • Meetings and case conferences
  • Learning updates
  • School reports
  • Whole school events and information sessions

We value parent engagement and encourage families to stay involved in their child’s learning journey.
